Why the Model Still Leans Bayern

It credits the home side with the points-per-match edge (3.00 across three stored results, against 1.88 across eight for Bayern), the better current table position, the home-attack-versus-away-defence matchup (4.00 goals per home game against 1.60 conceded per away game), the same-competition efficiency edge, and even a rest-window edge. The away lean rests on the result distribution itself, which means the model is looking past the surface form in a way the signal list alone does not explain.
The Strongest Case Against the Model
Bayern's one league away fixture recorded this season ended 0-0 at FC Schalke 04 on 5 September. That is a genuine argument against a 76.7 percent away win: the sample of Bayern scoring heavily in this league, this season, is built almost entirely on home matches. Elversberg's own points-per-match number of 3.00 is the best figure in the signal list, even allowing for the May result inside it. The model's own caveats sharpen the doubt. The recent samples are small, the Elversberg side of it especially, with three stored results and a single advanced-stats match against Bayern's seven. There is no head-to-head sample at all, so the fixture-history dimension cannot add any check. Historical expected-goals and technical data are thin, which lowers the weight given to attacking-quality adjustments. And an external forecast points in a different direction from the model, which suggests the two are not measuring the same thing. Taken together, the away lean is a confident read built on limited evidence, and it deserves to be labelled as such rather than treated as settled.
What Would Make This Look Different
The lineup picture is unfinished.
